  • Ensure that required Coaches, Officials and Volunteers shall at all times possess a current British Cycling Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) certificate. Non-compliance with this provision will automatically exclude such persons, and possibly the club, from roles requiring DBS certificates as required in the British Cycling Safeguarding Policy.
  • Appoint a Club Welfare Officer (‘CWO’) whose name appears below, who is responsible for:
  • administering a Child and Adult Safeguarding Policy.
  • ensuring that confidential, detailed and accurate records of all safeguarding concerns are maintained and securely stored
  • Provide a member induction, which includes awareness of the British Cycling Child and Adult Safeguarding Policies.
  • Share information about safeguarding and good practice with members and volunteers.
  • Ensure appropriate action is taken in the event of all incidents or concerns, from low level concerns and poor practice to more serious abuse.
  • Challenge any abuse or inappropriate behaviour regarding members.
  • Recognise that abuse comes in many forms, which includes:
  • emotional, physical and sexual;
  • neglect;
  • foul language, bullying and requiring an athlete to train at an inappropriate level; and
  • abuse of a position of trust, such as exists between a coach and a child or young person or adult at risk.
  • Acknowledge that it is the responsibility of experts to determine whether abuse is taking/has taken place, but it is everyone’s responsibility to report ANY concerns.

DOING NOTHING IS NOT AN OPTION!!!
